Technology Academy Finland (TAF) invites the scientific and innovation community around the world to nominate candidates for the 2018 Millennium Technology Prize. The nomination period opens today and nominations will be accepted until July 31, 2017. The one million euro Prize is one of the largest innovation prizes in the world. It is awarded for groundbreaking technological innovations that help solve the great challenges of humankind in a sustainable manner. The winner will be announced on May 22, 2018.

Technology Academy Finland congratulates Millennium Technology Prize 2016 winner Frances Arnold for receiving another great acknowledgement for her pioneering work on directed evolution. Arnold has been awarded the National Academy of Sciences’ Sackler Prize in Convergence Research. Directed evolution has been adopted by hundreds of laboratories around the world and has broad applications in sustainable biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and other environmentally friendly solutions to global problems.
