Millennium Technology Price winner Frances Arnold receives National Academy of Sciences’ Sackler Prize

Technology Academy Finland congratulates Millennium Technology Prize 2016 winner Frances Arnold for receiving another great acknowledgement for her pioneering work on directed evolution. Arnold has been awarded the National Academy of Sciences’ Sackler Prize in Convergence Research. Directed evolution has been adopted by hundreds of laboratories around the world and has broad applications in sustainable biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and other environmentally friendly solutions to global problems.

The Sackler Prize recognizes significant advances in convergence research – the integration of two or more science disciplines, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biomedicine, biology, astronomy, earth sciences, engineering, and computational science – for achievements possible only through such integration.
